05/06/04 Homer Electric Elects Board Members
Homer Electric
Association members elected three directors at the
cooperative’s Annual Meeting on Wednesday evening, May 5,
at the Kenai High School auditorium.
In District One
(Kenai-Nikiski), incumbent Mike Nugent was elected to
a three-year term on the Board of Directors, receiving
2,100 votes. Candidate Ron Rainey received 2,001
votes.
In District Two
(Soldotna-Sterling), incumbent Deb Debnam was elected
to a three-year term on the Board of Directors,
receiving 2,406 votes. Candidate Pat Cowan received
1,686.
In District Three (Ninilchik-Homer),
incumbent Roseleen Moore ran unopposed and received
3,334 votes.
A total of 4,295 votes
were counted in the election, representing 22.6
percent of the Homer Electric Association membership.
The Board of Directors
also selected officers for 2004. Dave Carey of
Soldotna will serve as President, Hugh Chumley of
Sterling will serve as Vice-President, Mike Nugent of
Kenai will serve as Secretary-Treasurer and Debbie
Debnam of Sterling will serve as Deputy Secretary.

Homer Electric Association awarded several
scholarships and recognized the students who will be
participating in the National Rural Electric
Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) Youth Rally Camp and
Youth Leadership Council

Stephanie Lambe was recognized for her selection as
the Alaska representative to the 2004 National Rural
Electric Cooperative Association’s Youth Leadership
Council. Nikiski High School senior Anjani Salonen was
recognized at the Annual Meeting for her outstanding
work the last two years with the NRECA Youth
Leadership Council.
