Youth Rally Program

General Rules

1. Students who have previously been selected to attend the Youth Rally are not eligible.

2. Contestants must currently be attending a school within the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District.

3. Contestant's parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must be HEA member(s) currently receiving electric service from Homer Electric Association, Inc.

4. Applications for the Youth Rally contest must be submitted to a Homer Electric office no later than 5:00 p.m., April 1, 2008.

5. The selection of winners is based on the total score of the contestant’s personal interview with the judges.

6. During the personal interview, students may be asked to discuss the following topics:

a) What do you think your electric cooperative will look like 5-10 years from now?
b) How does HEA support economic development in our communities?
c) What is the difference between an electric cooperative and an investor-owned utility (IOU)?
d) Why should you be selected to represent HEA at the Youth Rally?

7. If selected, the student agrees to act as an ambassador to help promote the Youth Rally Program.

8. Winners agree to attend the 2008 Homer Electric Association, Inc. Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 1st, to receive their award.

9. Winners agree to submit a brief written report of their Youth Rally experience upon their return from camp and make a short presentation at the Homer Electric Association 2009 Annual Meeting.

10. All travel, lodging and food expenses will be paid by Homer Electric Association. A chaperon will also be provided.
