2008 Youth Rally Contest

[General Information]   [General Rules]   [Rules of Conduct]   [Application]

Homer Electric's Board of Directors is committed to enriching the educational experience of local students and supporting future members of the Cooperative. The board of directors is again offering a great opportunity for two 10th or 11th grade students. Two high school students will win scholarships to attend a week-long summer camp at Albertson College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho. All travel arrangements and accommodations will be made by a Youth Rally Coordinator.

The Youth Rally provides a very full week of travel, meeting new people, summer games of challenge and a field trip to a power generation facility. All activities and games are designed to strengthen communication and leadership abilities. Through personal experience, students will learn how much can be accomplished by teamwork and a cooperative spirit.

While at the Rally, students may be selected to represent Alaska as a member of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's Youth Leadership Council. Members of the Youth Leadership Council will tour Washington, D.C., in 2008 and have other travel opportunities.
