Marathon Substation

Marathon Substation is now in service and operating to serve the Kenai area. The new Substation utilizes state-of-the-art microprocessor based control, relay protection and metering devices. The metering devices give the system operator accurate, real time load information on the 4 circuits that leave the Substation to serve the Kenai area customers. The Substation relay protection devices provide fast and accurate tripping of the breakers at the Substation to protect the equipment at the sub and the circuits that exit into the Kenai area. In addition to providing high quality protection, the relays offer detailed fault information that is essential in investigating disturbances. They offer this information in 1/4 cycle increments, (there are 60 cycles in 1 second). HEA is proud of this accomplishment and that Marathon will be serving customers well into the future.
