HEA and the Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) are partnering in a Landfill Gas engineering and financial analysis that lays out a business plan to install a Landfill Gas facility at the KPB landfill. The costs are to be shared in a 50% split by both parties. This project would reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while also producing lower cost electricity for HEA members. In addition, this project would further HEA in accomplishing 18% of its annual energy needs into renewables by the end of 2022.
This project has some real merit and the business plan should be completed by the end of 2019.
