Beware of Scammers During the Holidays

Homer Electric Association (HEA) has received reports from members regarding suspicious phone calls this week. HEA is reminding its members to be aware of potential scams and fraudulent callers impersonating HEA and requesting payment. The goal of these scammers is to obtain credit card numbers or other financial or personal information and payment.

While HEA may contact you by phone for various reasons, the cooperative will never call you to demand payment by a certain method or threaten an immediate disconnection of service if payment is not received. If a suspicious phone call is received, end the phone call and contact Homer Electric for verification and to check the status of your account.

Scammers are becoming smarter, so don’t be fooled by caller ID even if it says ‘Homer Electric Association’. Be scam savvy and never give anyone your personal information unless you are confident the transaction is legitimate.
