Imagine if everyone in YOUR co-op made one small change. Now, stop imagining. Flip a switch. Seal some cracks. Screw in a LED bulb. Install a programmable thermostat and actually program it. It doesn’t take a lot of energy to save energy. But it sure pays off.

That’s the thinking behind Together We Save, Touchstone Energy Cooperatives’ national energy-efficiency campaign.

Designed to inspire consumers to easily save energy by saving them money, the Together We Save website is filled with tips to help members becoming more energy efficient.

The site features more than a dozen energy-efficiency interactive web applications linked to a virtual home tour, all designed to encourage co-op members throughout the country to take energy-saving actions now. Plus Touchstone Energy TV, showcasing energy-efficiency videos and the Energy Saving Forum, where members can post their own energy saving success stories and learn more information on how they can lower their energy bill.

What Are Your Appliances Consuming?

Are you aware of how much energy that big screen television or that old, spare freezer in the garage is using? With the Kill A Watt electricity usage monitor, you can discover how much electricity your household appliances consume and which appliances continue to consume electricity even when turned off.

Simply plug the Kill A Watt monitor into any household outlet and plug your appliances into the Kill A Watt and the monitor will display how much electricity is being consumed.  The monitor will count electricity by the kilowatt-hour (kWh) enabling you to calculate your electrical operating costs by the day, week, or month.

Members can borrow the Kill A Watt monitor from HEA free of charge for a one week time period. Simply stop by the office to check-out a Kill A Watt monitor.
