Homer Electric Association, Inc. (HEA) is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperative governed by nine directors elected by the members of their respective districts to serve a three-year term in office. In the 2026 Election, 3,898 total ballots were returned, resulting in a voter participation rate of 14.89%.
- In District 1 (Kenai — Nikiski — parts of the Soldotna area), incumbent Secretary/Treasurer, Jim Duffield of Kenai was re-elected, receiving 520 votes. Candidate Patrick Parker of Soldotna received 488 votes.
- In District 2 (Soldotna — Sterling — Kasilof), incumbent Director, Dan Green of Soldotna was re-elected, receiving 723 votes. Candidate Mitchell Michaud of Soldotna received 477 votes.
- In District 3 (Kasilof south to Kachemak Bay area), candidate Peter Crimp was elected, receiving 1,048 votes. Candidate Bob Day of Homer received 602 votes.
Immediately following the 2026 Annual Meeting in Soldotna, HEA held a board meeting with directors and the elected officers. Dan Furlong was elected as President, Robert Wall was elected as Vice-President, Jim Duffield was elected Secretary/Treasurer and Wayne Ogle was elected as Deputy Secretary.
Chief Executive Officer, Brad Janorschke, expressed appreciation for all candidates. “The Board of Directors represent the members across our service territory, and they play a key role in the strategic direction of our cooperative,” he said. “Before a critical decision is made at HEA, the board directors have an opportunity to consider and discuss the matter, provide input, and then cast a vote."
“This process is vital as we all work to make decisions that are in the best interest of our members and the utility.”
Janorschke also extended his appreciation to all the members who participated in the election. “This annual election is a key opportunity for our members to be heard. As member-owners, their voices continue to be important.”
