Homer Electric Association (HEA) is now taking applications for HEA Scholarships, the Youth Rally Leadership Camp, and the Electrical Safety Poster Contest. These programs are representative of Cooperative Principal 7, “Concern for Community.”
The HEA Board of Directors in recent years has expanded the scholarship policy to better reflect the diversity of our membership. HEA scholarships support students pursuing trade or apprenticeship programs, as well as two-year or four-year colleges and universities. Opportunities are available to both graduating high school seniors and adults continuing their education. Homer Electric’s scholarships are funded by the interest earned on unclaimed capital credits, which is managed by the Alaska Rural Electric Cooperative Association (ARECA).
The 2026 Youth Rally Leadership Camp will be held July 6–10 in Nampa, Idaho. This immersive leadership experience gives Alaskan students the opportunity to connect with more than 90 peers from seven states while gaining industry insight, building leadership skills, and participating in hands-on team-building activities. Applications are open to all sophomores and juniors attending schools within HEA’s service territory. HEA will select two students to attend the Youth Rally and will cover all travel and program-related expenses.
Also open for entries, the HEA Electrical Safety Poster Contest provides an opportunity for students in grades 3 and 4 to showcase their artistic talents while spreading awareness about electrical safety. To learn more about this contest and the prizes, visit the HEA website link below.
