As storm season begins, Homer Electric Association (HEA) reminds members to stay alert and prioritize electrical safety when severe weather causes trees or power lines to come down.
If you see a downed power line or a tree tangled in a power line, stay back and do not touch or move it. The line may still be energized, even if it doesn’t appear to be.
HEA urges members to report downed lines and trees tangled in power lines right away at (888) 868-8243 and allow trained HEA crews to safely assess and address the hazard.
When you see a downed power line:
- Stay away and keep others clear.
- Never touch or move the line or tree.
- If there is a fire or immediate danger, call 911.
- Report the hazard to the HEA Outage Reporting line immediately at (888) 868-8243.
- Let trained crews handle it safely.
Thank you for helping keep our communities safe.
