The nomination period for Homer Electric Association (HEA) members interested in becoming a board member is now open. The nomination period expires at 5 p.m., March 6.
To be placed on the ballot, potential candidates must be a member of HEA and a bona-fide resident, as defined in the Bylaws, of the Cooperative’s service area. All candidates must also return a completed Candidacy Packet declaring their intent to sit for election as a Board Member in the candidate’s district of residence. HEA will hold an election for the open board seat in each district as follows:
District #1 (Kenai-Nikiski-parts of Soldotna) - one seat
District #2 (Soldotna-Sterling-Kasilof area) - one seat
District #3 (Kasilof-Homer-Seldovia area) - one seat
“To join HEA as a board member is a great opportunity for someone wanting to make a difference in the community and help keep the lights on for our members across the Kenai Peninsula,” said HEA Chief Executive Officer Brad Janorschke. “It’s an important role that gives each board member a chance to weigh in on the decisions that will set the future direction of the utility.”
The Candidacy Packet is available online at https://www.homerelectric.com/my-cooperative/board-of-directors/election/ and at HEA offices in Kenai and Homer. The packet must be completed and submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 6. Completed packets may be submitted at either the Kenai or Homer HEA offices or emailed to BoardCandidate@homerelectric.com. Members may vote for their board representative beginning April 3, and results will be announced at HEA’s Annual Meeting of the Members on May 7 at Soldotna High School.
