Homer Electric Association, Inc. (HEA) is a democratically controlled, not-for-profit electric cooperative governed by nine directors elected by and from the members of their respective districts to serve a three-year term in office. In the 2025 Election, 3,789 total ballots were returned resulting in a voting participation rate of 14.60%.
- In District 1 (Kenai — Nikiski — parts of Soldotna area), incumbent Director, Wayne Ogle of Nikiski was re-elected receiving 487 votes. Candidate Patrick Parker of Soldotna received 470 votes.
- In District 2 (Soldotna — Sterling — Kasilof), incumbent Board President, Dan Furlong of Soldotna was re-elected, receiving 629 votes. Candidate Mitchell Michaud of Soldotna received 438 votes.
- In District 3 (Kasilof south to Kachemak Bay area), incumbent Director, Erin McKittrick was re-elected, receiving 1,131 votes. Candidate Matthew Bullard of Homer received 322 votes. Candidate Rick Eckert of Homer received 274 votes.
Keriann Baker, Chief Strategy Officer explained that “immediately following the Annual Meeting, a board meeting was held and the Board of Directors elected officers. Dan Furlong was elected as President, Robert Wall was elected as Vice-President, Jim Duffield was elected Secretary/Treasurer and Wayne Ogle was elected as Deputy Secretary.”
Chief Executive Officer, Brad Janorschke expressed appreciation for all candidates that participated in the Election personally thanking “all the candidates for stepping up and being willing to serve the cooperative and the membership by pursuing a board seat on the HEA Board of Directors. I also extend my appreciation to the Members who took the time to vote in the 2025 HEA Election.”
