Homer Electric’s Janorschke Nominated to Renewable Energy Fund Advisory Committee by Governor Dunleavy

June 2, 2022 (ANCHORAGE, Alaska) - Homer Electric Association, Inc. (HEA) is pleased to announce that General Manager Brad Janorschke will serve on the Renewable Energy Fund Advisory Committee. Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy announced Janorschke’s appointment yesterday in a press release.

The Renewable Energy Fund Advisory Committee (REFAC) works in collaboration with Alaska Energy Authority (AEA), offering consultation and valuable guidance, policy direction regarding the application and evaluation process, and final funding recommendations for submission of grants from the Renewable Energy Fund to the Alaska State Legislature.

Janorschke’s extensive background will provide a wealth of industry knowledge to the committee, with over 30 years of experience in the electric utility field and having served on the board of trustees and the executive committee of Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA) since 2014 and as the District 9 director of the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation Board (CFC) since 2019.

The REFAC consists of nine members; five of which are appointed by the governor to staggered three-year terms, with one representative from each of the following groups: small Alaska rural electric utilities; large Alaska urban electric utilities; Alaska Native organizations, businesses or organizations engaged in the renewable energy sector; and the Denali Commission. Two members of the House of Representatives are appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and two members of the Senate are appointed by the President of the Senate.
