Homer Electric Association Highlights Annual Member Programs, Including Home Utility Gift Campaign and $3.36 Million in Capital Credit Retirements
Homer Electric Association, Inc. (HEA) is pleased to announce two ways it is giving back to members this holiday season: the launch of HEA’s annual Home Utility Gift (HUG) Campaign and the retirement of $3.36 million in capital credits.
Nominations are now open for HEA’s annual HUG Program. Throughout December, HEA will select 10 families to receive a $100 HUG, which will be credited directly to their electric account. Members may nominate deserving families by completing the HEA HUG nomination form, available both online and at HEA offices in Homer and Kenai. To access the form online, visit the HEA website (click My Cooperative, Community Outreach, HUG Program). Completed forms can be emailed to PRTeam@HomerElectric.com or delivered to either HEA office. The deadline to submit final nominations is December 18.
HEA will also retire $3.36 million in capital credits to its membership in December. Capital credit retirements are determined annually by the HEA Board as part of the cooperative’s financial structure. Members with an active HEA account will receive a credit on their December utility bill, while former members will receive a check by mail to their address on file with HEA.
Capital credits are being distributed to members who were active in 1993-1994, with amounts based on electricity purchased during those years. The more electricity purchased, the greater the capital credits returned will be. Capital credits reflect each member's ownership in the utility and are one of the core benefits of being part of a member-owned electric cooperative. HEA encourages active and former members to keep their mailing addresses updated to ensure timely delivery of future capital credit payments.
