Maintenance Responsibilities – Who Owns What? Who is Responsible for What?

Cooperative Equipment

HEA is responsible for the repair of any equipment owned by the cooperative, such as power distribution lines, transformers, service lines, meters and power poles. HEA will maintain facilities up to the point of connection, which is normally at the weatherhead or the meter housing. Any damages to HEA’s facilities (such as poles, pole top equipment, service drops and power lines) should be reported immediately by calling us at (907) 283-5831, (907) 235-8551, or toll-free in Alaska at (800) 478-8551.

Member’s Responsibility

It is the member’s responsibility to maintain their equipment past the connection point, including the meter can, service riser (conduit), attachment hardware, weatherhead and wire beyond the connection point. Members should contact an independent electrician to make needed repairs or improvements.

Underground Service
HEA’s Responsibility

HEA will maintain facilities up to the point of connection, which is the top side of the meter socket. Any damages to HEA’s facilities (such as poles, pole top equipment service drops and power lines) should be reported immediately by calling us at (907) 283-5831, (907) 235-8551, or toll-free in Alaska at (800) 478-8551.

Member’s Responsibility

It is the member’s responsibility to maintain their equipment beyond the connection point. This includes the meter socket and wires from the bottom side of the socket going into the house. Members should contact an independent electrician to make needed repairs or improvements.
